New Long Term Car Park at Darwin Airport
Friday, 01 July 2011
Darwin International Airport today opened its third car park available to the general public, in the final phase of its upgrade to parking and ground transport facilities.
The new Long Term Car Park is located 200 metres walking distance from the terminal building and will cater for 270 vehicles.
The cost of parking in the new Long Term Car Park is $14 a day.
Darwin International Airport has invested $4.5 million on parking improvements in the last 18 months.
The upgrade of parking facilities at the airport is to cater for strong passenger growth and is in preparation for the $40 million terminal expansion project due to commence in the first half of 2012.
The previously named Long Term and General Aviation Car Park on Pedersen Road will now be referred to as the General Aviation Car Park. This facility caters for the general aviation precinct located in Slade Court and Murphy Road, and other airport users requiring parking in this vicinity.
Travellers can continue to use the General Aviation Car Park to obtain the reduced daily rate of $12 per day.
The car rental parking area located to the west of the terminal building has also been expanded to cater for inbound business and tourist growth. The new 261 bay facility which houses Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Thrifty, is closer to the terminal and offers improved signage and lighting.
In the coming months a new coach parking facility will be opened to the east of the terminal, featuring a covered walkway and passenger waiting shelter.
More information about the changes including maps and parking rates can be found at our parking page.
