Building permits
A building permit is required before any building activity or earth works can be commenced.
All construction principles, methods and materials must conform to the Building Code of Australia 2001 and any subsequent amendments. Environmental implications and impacts of the development should be considered.
All building permit plans require approval from the Fire and Emergency Services of Australia (FESA).
The Airport Building Controller (ABC), as representative for the Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DOIT), issues all building permits. The ABC assesses the proposal for conformance to the Building Code of Australia 2001 and requires Darwin International Airport consent prior to issuing the building permit.
