Working on Airport

Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)

ASICs are issued to those who have an operational requirement to access the Security Restricted Area or other security controlled areas of Darwin International Airport.  Darwin International Airport is an issuing body under the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005.

All applicants that require an ASIC must complete the ASIC application form in full and submit with the appropriate documentation to the Terminal Control Centre located on the ground floor of the Terminal next to Gate 6.  For further information or clarification please contact the Terminal Control Centre on 61 8 8920 1805.

All ASIC holders (unless exempted) must undergo the Airport Security and Safety Induction prior to collecting their ASIC card.

Visitor Identification Card (VIC)

VICs can be obtained from the Terminal Control Centre for those who have a lawful and work-related reason for requiring one.  VICs must be displayed at all times and the holder must be accompanied by a person wearing a valid ASIC.

Photographic ID, for example a driving licence, must be produced to confirm identity in order to receive a VIC.  VICs must be returned to Darwin International Airport Terminal Control Centre on the day of expiry or if there is no longer an operational requirement to hold the VIC.  Failure to return a VIC is in breach of the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005 and may incur a penalty or refusal of a future VIC.
