ADG Makes New Appointment

Airport Development Group (ADG) has today announced the appointment of Robert Porter to the position of Executive General Manager Operations.  He will be responsible for operations across all three ADG owned and managed airports – Darwin International, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek Airports.

Rob comes to ADG with more than 30 years’ experience in the aviation industry, including 11 years managing operations at busy airports in regional Queensland – in Mackay and the Gold Coast, two stints at Airservices Australia and most recently with Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting Services, where he held the position of Executive General Manager.

ADG CEO Tony Edmondstone said he was delighted with the appointment.

“Rob Porter brings to the organisation a breadth of experience across operational leadership and traditional airport function management.”

“I know Rob will be an invaluable member of the management team as ADG continues to expand our operations across the Top End of Australia into non-aviation infrastructure.”

Airport ownership and management will remain at the core of ADG’s business, as the organisation focuses on diversifying into property, utilities and hospitality.

A recent expansion into hotel ownership has brought with it plans to create a world class destination resort in Darwin, through the redevelopment of the Mercure Darwin Airport Resort and Novotel Darwin Airport Hotel.

“ADG has been a major contributor to the Territory economy for more than two decades,” said Mr Edmondstone, “we are 100 per cent Australian investor owned by IFM Investors and Palisade Investment Partners Limited, which contribute to the retirement funds of approximately 70,000 Territorians.”

“We are excited about the future of the Territory and our investments demonstrate the confidence we have in the long-term future of the Territory’s economy and tourism industry.”

Rob Porter will commence work with ADG on Thursday 11 March 2021.
